Can I move rooms during term time?

Room Moves

Room moves are not approved for these reasons:

• The Village receives many requests at certain times of year and all have been denied.

• It would not be fair to other residents if a particular request is allowed.

• The nature and extent of the relationship that residents form with a new room-mate is predominately up to the resident, not Village Management. (please be aware that protocols exist to manage any issues that may arise between room mates.)

• The culture, events and infrastructure of our Village encourages persons unknown to one-another at the start of the semester to mix and make new friends. This has resulted in a dynamic/fun and inclusive culture that is supported/resourced and encouraged by the Village Team. The Village often has a wait-list of students wanting to access our accommodation and culture.

• No representations in any of the Village collateral or contracts allows for the option of nominated residents to move rooms at their own request.

• The Village does not have the resources to effectively manage the option of allowing residents to nominate the person with whom they wish to share.

Whom would I be sharing with and how is this decided?

Rooms are allocated by the administration office, using a random style as they have no affiliations with any groups or religions. However, we generally group you by room type, the time you apply (it's a good idea to get in quick) and we like to have a gender balance within each apartment. Wherever possible we always endeavour to fulfil specific requests made by residents, including requests to share with a friend.

What if I don't like my room-mate?

A Residential support team exists to provide you with a positive and harmonious environment in which to live. So, contact the team and they will help you out with this one as each case is different.

Can I have visitors to stay?

A resident cannot have visitors stay more than two consecutive nights and a maximum of six nights in any one month. Only Residents or Registered Visitors are permitted on site after 12 midnight. Visitors must register at Reception prior to their stay-over.

Does the Village clean my room?

Cleaning of the rooms and apartments within the Village is the responsibility of the occupants of those rooms or apartments.

The Village does offer what we call 'the 'Lazy Bones' cleaning service and it costs only $10 per person a very reasonable price.

In the interests of hygiene and in consideration of your co-residents there is an expectation that rooms and apartments will be maintained in a neat and tidy condition. A user pays cleaning service is also available.

When checking out of the Village, a complete Departure Clean can be booked through reception for $40.00 (or $20.00 per resident)
